Workforce Investment Act of 1998
The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA) oversees employment, training, literacy, and vocational rehabilitation programs across the United States. The national job-training framework introduced in the law includes “One Stop” training centers, individual training accounts, and state and local Workforce Investment Boards that are comprised of policymakers, businesspeople, and representatives from the education community. We would like for a reauthorized WIA to strengthen the educational and workforce training systems in order to meet the needs to students and adults seeking skills. WIA was due for reauthorization in 2003.
