NASDCTEc is excited to present a full day of training by Gallup professionals. In Session I, we will learn about the latest trends in education and how they impact you. In Session II, we have secured their top consultants who will lead you to achieve greater levels of success by showing you how to better connect with your staff members and achieve higher levels of performance.

Leaders know that employee wellbeing has a direct and significant impact on the bottom line. For Session III, we will learn how specific elements in our lives shape our overall wellbeing, and what this means in the workplace.

Session I Policy Implications for CTE Leaders: Education Insights from Gallup

Speaker Shane Lopez of Gallup will share:

  • What is happening in education at the secondary and postsecondary levels and show the relevance to participants
  • Outcomes and public opinion on Gallup Phi Delta Kappa poll on trends in education
  • The implications of Gallup’s work for the CTE community

Session II Strengths Based Leadership Workshop: Great Leaders, Teams, and Why People Follow


  • This engaging, interactive session will have a Strengths-based leadership focus based on the Clifton StrengthsFinder Leadership program
  • Attendees will learn how to use their top strengths to grow as leaders in an ever-changing and demanding work environment
  • Attendees will achieve a greater understanding of team dynamics, incorporate practical applications to energize their work world, bringing out the best in their staff

Session III Wellbeing: The Five Essential Elements

Speaker Tim Hodges of Gallup will:

  • Share the tenets of the book Wellbeing: the Five Essential Elements and direct self-reflection
  • Translate how attendees can better their lives and workplaces

The Gallup Speakers

Shane J. Lopez, Ph.D., Senior Scientist, is an architect of the Gallup Student Poll. A measure of hope, engagement, and wellbeing, the Student Poll taps into the hearts and minds of American students to determine what drives achievement. Dr. Lopez leads research on the links between hope, strengths development, academic success, and overall wellbeing and collaborates with scholars around the world on these issues. He specializes in hope and strengths enhancement for students from preschool through college graduation, advocating a whole-school strengths model that also builds the strengths expertise of educators, parents, and youth development organizations. Dr. Lopez has provided strengths mentoring to thousands of college students, including academic, career, and life planning, and he advises schools, colleges, and universities on these issues. He is the coauthor of the statistical reports for the Clifton StrengthsFinder and the Clifton Youth StrengthsExplorer.

Tim Hodges, Ph.D., is a Director of Research for Gallup’s Education Practice. He consults with K-12 school districts and higher education institutions and leads research projects in strengths development, employee selection, employee engagement, and wellbeing. He also directs Gallup’s Campus Wellbeing Consortium, a select group of higher education institutions dedicated to improving the wellbeing of their students, faculty, staff, and communities. Hodges is a member of the board of directors of the National Career and Technical Education Foundation (NCTEF). The NCTEF board provides oversight and direction to the implementation of Career and Technical Education across the United States.
