Home Builders Institute Praises CTE Instructors

New Friends of CTE Blog Series Provides Platform for CTE Advocates

Silver Spring, MD, January 11, 2012 – Career Technical Education (CTE) instructors not only educate students, they play a crucial role in helping students develop passion for their chosen career, according to Deanna Lewis, Director for Career & Certification Services for Home Builders Institute (HBI).

In a new Friends of CTE Monthly Blog Series, Lewis references reports that predict growth in many architecture and construction careers by the year 2015. With the construction industry poised for growth, Lewis said CTE instructors do an excellent job preparing students to meet that growing demand.

Lewis said, “Just as important, though, they [CTE instructors] are instilling in their students a crucial passion for the work.” Lewis hopes new professionals in the construction industry will feel excited about the work they do.

The Friends of CTE Blog is a monthly guest blog piece hosted by the National Association of State Directors of Career Technical Education Consortium (NASDCTEc). The blog provides advocates – from business and industry, the research community and organizations – an opportunity to articulate their support for CTE. Guest bloggers provide their perspective on and experience with CTE as it relates to policy, the economy and education.
