WHAT:
A briefing honoring three programs that were recognized as “Programs and Practices that Work” (PPTW) by employing promising practices to improve student’s enrollment and retention in courses that lead to nontraditional, often high-demand careers:
- Inspiring Girls Now in Technology Evolution (IGNITE)-Winner from Seattle Public Schools, Seattle, Washington
- Respiratory Care Practitioner Program (RCPP)-Honorable Mention from Saint Paul College, St. Paul, Minnesota
- Recruit and Retain Mentoring Program (RRMP)-Honorable Mention from Northeast Community College, Norfolk, Nebraska
Representatives from all three programs and the sponsoring organizations will be present to provide information on PPTW, lessons learned, information on each program, and the importance of career and technical education and the federal Perkins Act.

The briefing is sponsored by the Association for Career and Technical Education, National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity, National Association of State Directors of Career Technical Education Consortium, and National Women’s Law Center, who co-sponsor the Programs and Practices that Work Project.
