The members of the NASDCTEc Executive Committee are elected to serve one-year terms, from July 1 through June 30. Only State Directors are eligible to serve on the Executive Committee.
Mr. Rod Duckworth, President/Vice President
Mr. Rod Duckworth joined the Florida Department of Education as the Chancellor for the Division of Career and Adult Education on March 12, 2012. He currently serves as NASDCTEc Vice President.
Mr. Duckworth has extensive state and national experience in Career Technical education having most recently served as the Interim Deputy Director for Career and Technical Education in the Arkansas Department of Career Education. Mr. Duckworth began his career as a classroom teacher and student organization advisor; he managed several national programs for the National FFA Organization in Alexandria, Virginia. Mr. Duckworth served as the State Program Director for Agriculture Education in Washington State and was later appointed as State Director of Career and Technical Education, a position he held until he returned to his home state of Arkansas in 2007 to serve in various roles in the Arkansas Department of Career Education.
Mrs. Jo Anne Honeycutt: Secretary-Treasurer
Mrs. Jo Anne Honeycutt serves as the State Director of Career and Technical Education at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. She currently serves as NASDCTEc Secretary-Treasurer.
Previously, Mrs. Honeycutt was Director of Middle School Programs and Director of Career and Technical Education for Johnston County Schools. She began her career in education as a Business Teacher at Cleveland Middle School and later at West Johnston High School. She served as the Cleveland Middle School FBLA Advisor, as a member of the Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Council, and was the 2004-2005 Central Region Teacher of the Year.
Prior to her career in education, Mrs. Honeycutt was a Commercial Real Estate Lender for Wachovia Bank. She received her bachelor’s degree in Business Management from North Carolina State University in 1992 and earned a master’s degree in Business and Marketing Education in 2004, also from North Carolina State University. Mrs. Honeycutt is a National Board Certified Teacher.
Mr. John Fischer: Past President
Mr. John Fischer is the Deputy Commissioner of the Vermont Agency of Education and current NASDCTEc Past President.
His office is based out of Montpelier. Previously, Mr. Fischer held positions at Plymouth State University in Residential Life and Student Activities and in the New Hampshire community college system as Dean of Students, Vice President and Provost.
Mr. Fischer joined the Vermont Agency of Education in 2006 as a consultant and workgroup coordinator in Career Technical Education. In 2010, he was appointed the Director of the High School and Adult Division, leading school improvement, high school innovation and transformation, and also serving as the State Director for CTE. In 2012, he was appointed to his current position of Deputy Commissioner. He has served as the Region I Representative on the Board of Directors of NASDCTEc from 2009 through 2012. Additionally, Mr. Fischer serves on the State Dual Enrollment Advisory Board, the Gear Up Board, Governor’s Workforce Development Council, NE Secondary Schools Consortium State Council and the Vermont Entrepreneurship Executive Board. Fischer was also a business owner in Vermont.
